Ko Karapiro te roto, Ko Waikato te Awa, Ko Te Koo Utu te roto, Ko Ngaruawhahi te Turangawaiwai, Ko Taupiri te maunga o nga tipuna, Ko Ngaati Koroki Kauhukura te mana whenua o nga whenua. Ko Leamington te Kura. Teena koutou, teena koutou, mauri ora kia koutou katoa! Welcome to Leamington School and thank you for considering our school as the next step in your professional journey. My name is Mike Malcolm and I am both humbled and proud to work in such a wonderful school and community. Over the last few years Leamington has experienced significant roll growth, moving from a school of just over 300 children several years ago to exceed 600 children in 2020. This has also brought with it significantly more children with learning needs that need more careful consideration about how to develop them as individuals. We are a school that is recognised for being inclusive and progressive in our thinking for all children. Due to the opportunities that have emerged with our growth, we made the decision in 2018 to appoint a full time Senco to support not only the children who need more careful consideration, but recognise the impact this has on all children and families across our kura. Engari he toa takitini! - It was the work of all of us! Leamington School is a place where I have had the pleasure of seeing the school develop a powerful vision for the children of our community that is inclusively reflects the dreams and aspirations of our community. I am most proud of the fact that the direction our school is taking is not owned by any one person, but has been put together collectively by every stake holder; the teachers, the children and the community. It is an exciting school to be a part of, and the future for our school is fueled by our ambtion for the positbity of what learning can look like. Collectively, there is a huge amount of pride about what our school is achieving, and what will happen next. While we set high expectations of ourselves, we also like to have a lot of fun and enjoy each other’s company outside of school. Enclosed in this application pack is some key information about our school, our community and the opportunity that currently exists to allow you to both partner with, and lead us into a future full of opportunities for the children we work with, and the team you will help lead. If you have any questions about your application, please do not hesitate to make contact with me personally. I look forward to hearing from you and also welcome the opportunity to meet you and show you around the school. Ki te kotahi te kakaho ka whati, ki te kapuia e kore e whati. (Alone we can be broken. Standing together, we are invincible.) Kia aro ngaatahi ki anamata Mike Malcolm Tumuaki |
